Proteger a los trabajadores contra la gripe aviar |
Si bien la atención del público se ha concentrado en la pandemia general de gripe aviar, existe otro aspecto que no debe olvidarse, a saber, que la gripe aviar es una enfermedad profesional. El Centro Internacional de Información sobre Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo (CIS) ha confeccionado una lista de recursos de Internet seleccionados que facilitan información sobre la protección de los trabajadores contra la gripe aviar. Los documentos y guías, que son preparados y puestos a disposición por organizaciones internacionales y nacionales, tratan de los riesgos que pueden correr los trabajadores que se ocupan de las aves, las personas que trabajan en laboratorios, la tripulación de los aviones, etc. Las medidas de control consisten, entre otras cosas, en utilizar la protección apropiada, tomar precauciones y educar a los trabajadores a fin de prevenir un brote entre la población humana.

Description: Release prepared by the German accident insurance institutions (HVBG, BUK and BLB) that sets out general safety measures to protect workers against avian influenza.

Description: Provides background information about avian influenza, reviews the risk and stages of a pandemic and sets out workplace precautions to be taken by employers to protect workers, including biosafety measures for poultry handlers and processors.

Description: Designed for federal, provincial and territorial departments of health, emergency workers, public health officials, and health care workers, it maps out how Canada will prepare for and respond to an influenza pandemic.

Description: Addresses the key issues surrounding detection, response, containment, and impact mitigation in the event of an influenza pandemic.

Description: Provides guidance to facilitate rapid detection and assessment of potential "signals" that the virus is improving its transmissiblity, and to guide implementation of effective response interventions before an emerging pandemic virus has spread beyond an initial outbreak zone.
