What's new in China
- Safe and healthy workplace for small and medium sized enterprises
Within the framework of ILO Project on Sustaining Competitive and Responsible Enterprises (SCORE), a train-the-trainers course on occupational safety and health was conducted on 3-5 February 2010 in Dalian - a port city in Northern China. Around 20 trainers from local enterprises attended the training course and and will provide consulting services to small and medium sized enterprises in improving safety and health at work.

Realizing decent work for domestic workers
Nowadays, 40% of urban families need domestic service which means there are about 15 million potential job opportunities in the domestic work sector in China. In addressing the challenges of realizing decent work for domestic workers, the ILO jointly with the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security brought national and international experts together to share their experiences and research findings on how to protect domestic workers through legislation and policies, and adapt international labour standards and best practices of other countries into the Chinese context.

- Strengthening cooperation on social security in China
A team of ILO experts on social security led by Mr. Michael Cichon, Director of ILO Social Security Department, visited China during 11-15 January 2010. The ILO team discussed technical cooperation in this field with the Chinese partners as well as how to jointly promote the UN Social Protection Floor Initiative in response to the global financial and economic crisis and its recovery in the region.
