Child labour in Haiyan (Yolanda) affected areas

On a school day, children are picking garbage in a landfill site in Tacloban, a city devastated by Super Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda). Children in areas affected by natural disasters are vulnerable to child labour. ILO’s emergency employment and livelihood programmes help ensure that adults are at work and not their children, by promoting decent work and extending social protection coverage while rebuilding communities.
