Strategic Compliance Planning for the Labour Inspectorate in Lesotho

The Ministry of Labour and Employment through support of the Strengthening Labour Inspections Project in Lesotho held a three day compliance strategic planning workshop.

The workshop was held at Thaba Bosiu Cultural Village from the 4 to the 6 July 2017.

The Strategic Compliance Planning for the Labour Inspectorate, is a programme that seeks to make the strategic compliance model actionable for all labour inspectorates, it is a six-step guided process to formulate, sequence, and operationalize, broader thinking and actions, into a winnable path to sustained compliance.

The steps that are followed during the training:
• Step One: Map the Labour Inspectorate
• Step Two: Map Compliance Issues and Compliance Targets
• Step Three: Map Compliance Drivers and Constraints
• Step Four: Map Stakeholders
• Step Five: Map Compliance Interventions
• Step Six: Operationalize Strategic Compliance Plan

The purpose of the compliance planning workshop is to assist the inspectorate to formulate, sequence, and operationalize, broader thinking and actions, into a winnable path to sustained compliance in priority sectors.

At the end of the three days compliance strategic planning workshop the inspectorate will develop a Strategic Compliance Plan to enhance compliance in prioritized areas and an Inspection Strategy Document.

The workshop was attended by 33 labour inspectors including the inspections manager, three representatives from Workers Organizations and one representative from the Employers Organisation
