    This document presents an overview of the strategic orientation, focus areas, main deliverables, conclusions and results thus far of the fifth area of critical importance (ACI 5) on the promotion of decent work in the rural economy (2014–15). It seeks guidance from the Governing Body on focus and future strategic orientation (see the draft decision in paragraph 32).

    This document is intended to enable the Governing Body to provide guidance on the scope and modalities of the evaluation by the Conference in 2016 of the impact of the ILO Declaration on Social Justice for a Fair Globalization as a basis for the report to be prepared by the Office for that purpose. In light of the discussions, further proposals could be developed for the 323rd Session (March 2015) of the Governing Body (see the draft decision in paragraph 16).

    The Governing Body is invited to: determine the follow-up to four meetings held in late 2013 and early 2014; take note of the interim report of the Joint ILO–UNESCO Committee of Experts on the Application of the Recommendations concerning Teaching Personnel (CEART) and determine the follow-up to be undertaken; and endorse the proposals made in relation to the sectoral meetings to be held in late 2015 (see the draft decisions in paragraphs 20, 25 and 28).

The Governing Body is invited to provide guidance on the information contained in this document and on any of the recommendations addressed to the ILO in those six JIU reports (see the proposed point for discussion in paragraph 24).
